Bespoke Home Office Library with Rolling Library Ladder in Bo'ness
This bespoke home office library was designed, manufactured and installed for a property in Bo'ness, creating a refined workspace that combines elegant fitted furniture with practical everyday functionality. Inspired by the character of traditional libraries, the design features floor-to-ceiling shelving, a rolling library ladder, integrated lighting and bespoke cabinetry, all carefully built to complement the client's existing oak desk.
The finished space provides extensive storage for books, display pieces and office essentials, while creating a home office that is both highly practical and a pleasure to spend time in.
STEP 1
The Brief
The client wanted to transform their home office with a bespoke library that would feel like a permanent feature of the room rather than a freestanding piece of furniture. As keen readers, they wanted generous shelving for their book collection alongside practical storage for everyday use.
The brief included:
Floor-to-ceiling shelving for books and display items
A rolling library ladder to provide easy access to the upper shelves
Integrated lower cupboards to keep the space organised
Warm oak work surfaces to complement the existing desk
Integrated LED lighting to highlight the shelving and create a welcoming atmosphere

STEP 2
The Design & Build
The library was carefully designed around the client's existing oak desk, ensuring the new fitted furniture looked as though it had always been part of the room.
Manufactured in our workshop before being installed on site, the finished library features bespoke floor-to-ceiling cabinetry finished in a rich deep blue, complemented by warm solid oak worktops that perfectly match the existing furniture.
The design incorporates:

A rolling library ladder on a sliding rail
Integrated LED shelf lighting
