CASE STUDY
West Lothian Bespoke Media Wall
This bespoke media wall was designed and built as part of a living room renovation in West Lothian. The aim was to create a stylish, clean, built-in feature that combined storage, display and media in a way that felt fully integrated into the space.
STEP 1
The Brief
Project Overview
• Location: West Lothian
• Project Type: Bespoke media wall
• Features: TV recess, soundbar integration, electric fire, cupboards, solid oak shelving, LED lighting, coving and skirtings
The clients were renovating their living space and wanted a media wall that would feel like part of the original architecture, rather than something added on.
They needed a design that would:
• Incorporate the TV, soundbar and fire in a clean, balanced layout
• Provide practical storage without making the room feel heavy
• Include open shelving for styling and display
• Work seamlessly with the existing proportions of the room
STEP 2
Solution
The design focuses on simplicity, proportion and integration.
A central chimney breast structure houses the TV and fire, with recessed alcoves on either side. These alcoves combine painted cabinetry with solid oak shelving, adding warmth and contrast to the overall finish.
Integrated LED lighting highlights the shelving and adds depth, while coving and skirtings were carried through to ensure the entire installation feels cohesive with the rest of the room.
The media wall was constructed in our workshop, tailored to the exact dimensions of the room before being fitted into the customers home.
Key elements included:
• Precise alignment of the TV recess and fire for a balanced finish
• Seamless integration of the soundbar
• Bespoke cupboards for hidden storage
• Solid oak shelving, made and fitted to size
• Installation of LED strip lighting within the shelving
• Finishing details including coving and skirtings to match the existing space
Every detail was designed to achieve a clean, built-in appearance.
STEP 3
Outcome
The finished media wall creates a calm, functional focal point within the room.
It balances storage and display while maintaining a light, uncluttered feel. The combination of painted joinery and oak shelving adds warmth, while the lighting enhances the overall atmosphere.
Most importantly, it feels like part of the home’s structure rather than an addition.
